Campus Notices
Island Construction will be on campus the week of August 15, patching asphalt on various parking lots, walkways, and areas of the Perimeter Road. This work is anticipated to take approximately 1-1/2 weeks to complete.
While the contractors have been instructed that the work be executed with the least possible interference or disturbance to the campus community, a certain amount of disruption is inevitable. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jackie MacPhail at 566-6034 or jmacphail@upei.ca
Everyone is welcome.
As the roll-out of Active Directory continues across campus, the classroom computers will now have a different look when signing in. The newly configured classroom PCs are still accessed with your current UPEI credentials.
Please note users will not have access to their network drive mappings (H:/drive for example) on the Academic Network which were previously provided through Novell. We apologize for this inconvenience; however, it will only be temporary until the drive mappings are configured in our new Active Directory service.
Users can access the files on their Novell drives by visiting the NetStorage website. Alternative, users may wish to use Google Drive, email, or a USB thumb drive to access their presentation files.
Please contact the ITSS Helpdesk at helpdesk@upei.ca or 902-566-0465 for questions.
New students, current students, as well as recently graduated students, who have children, as well as staff and faculty at UPEI who have kids/grandchildren are invited to bring their children to the FREE UPEI Family Friendly NSO event. Pregnant students are also welcome to attend!
This is a great opportunity for students to network with each other, staff and faculty members, learn the support systems available to them and ask questions to other students who are also parents!
There will be a "hunt" at noon (like an easter egg hunt), and Pride will be coming from 1pm-3pm, (you can take pictures with Pride), and we'll be showing a movie and will have crafts and snacks.
For more information visit the Facebook event or contact Elyse Cottrell at ecottrell@upei.ca.

The New Student Orientation (NSO) team have been busy preparing for the fall. This year, we are focusing on building healthy connections between our incoming students and key people and places at UPEI and in Charlottetown at large. This will be accomplished by building on the successes of past years and incorporating more personal interactions with staff, faculty, mentors, alumni, and community members.
This year, NSO runs from Saturday, September 3rd to Tuesday, September 6th. The week kicks off with Welcome Day, which is always an exciting day for UPEI. This year, students will be introduced to various departments and services on campus as they move through a campus tour. This allows them to become familar with our talented staff and faculty, as well as learn where to find these supports later in the year.
Throughout the rest of the week, there will be student led workshops, engaging activities, and fun celebrations - all with the purpose of building healthy connections, and lasting memories for our incoming Panthers. This will culminate in a fundraising event on the last day. This year, we are supportingg four local charitable organizations so our students can see the fruit of their efforts. The PEI Humane Society, the Canadian Mental Health Association (PEI Division), the Alzheimer's Society (PEI Branch), and PEI Family Violence Prevention Services will be receiving all money raised during NSO and have agreed to invite our students to continue volunteering with them throughout the year.
The NSO team is very excited for this event and would love to answer any questions you might have. Also, if you would like to get involved and lend us your talents and ideas, we would love to hear from you. Please contact our coordinator, Tayte Willows, at 902-628-7282, or send her an email at nso@upei.ca.

To support Project Beacon and to extend our capability to provision end users, ITSS is migrating from Novell Directory Services (NDS) to Microsoft Active Directory Services (AD). In order to do this, ITSS will need to visit your location and update software and configurations on your computer. We will need you to be available at this time to enter passwords to complete this process. We are estimating this process will take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete on each computer.
If you have not meet with a staff member from ITSS to do the changeover, please email Adam Arsenault at ajarsenault@upei.ca to set up an appointment. Thank you.
