It was with great sadness that UPEI informed the campus community on April 3, 2025, of the death of UPEI student Nafisa Binte Hasan on March 31, 2025, due to illness. Originally from Bangladesh, Nafisa was a fourth-year student in the McDougall Faculty of Business. 

The entire UPEI community extends condolences to Nafisa’s family and friends, and students, faculty, and staff in the McDougall Faculty of Business. Flags at the University have been lowered to half-mast in Nafisa’s memory.
