UPEI honours 2024 Founders during ceremony on December 18

The University of Prince Edward Island held its 23rd Recognition of Founders ceremony on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the UPEI Performing Arts Centre and Residence building.

This award acknowledges those who have contributed to the University in a significant way and to honour the many contributions, commitments, and sacrifices that have brought higher education in PEI to where it is today.

Piano recital by Heather Taves: Beethoven Sonata Journey

UPEI’s Department of Music kicks off its winter concert series with a piano recital featuring Heather Taves, whose Beethoven Sonata Journey is remarkable and moving. First and foremost, she is a stunning pianist, bringing her formidable technique to these great works. But she is also a brilliant thinker, and in her spoken introductions to each sonata, she illuminates the complex relationships that connect Beethoven and his world, the instrument, the audience and its world, and Heather herself.

Atlantic Veterinary College declares Santa’s reindeer fit to fly

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) has officially given Santa’s reindeer the all-clear for their annual Christmas Eve journey around the globe. After giving all nine reindeer a comprehensive health check earlier this month, the team confirmed that they are in top physical condition and ready to guide Santa’s sleigh.

UPEI Campus Food Bank to move to expanded location with dedicated coordinator in the new year

The UPEI Campus Food Bank is relocating to the W.A. Murphy Student Centre over the usual holiday break with improved facilities and more resources to serve those in need better. The Campus Food Bank will reopen in its new location on January 8, 2025. Please see the list of local resources, below, that can offer support during the transition.
