An Afternoon of Service with the Mount – Pumpkin Carving!
Gain volunteer experience in our community! In partnership with the UPEI Experiential Education Department, the Mount Continuing Care Community will host a group of student volunteers to help with a fun activity: pumpkin carving with the residents. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to your community, meet other students, and gain some new skills.
UPEI appoints new dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Dominique Griffon has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Prince Edward Island for a five-year term, effective January 1, 2024.
“I am very pleased to welcome Dr. Griffon to UPEI,” said Dr. Greg Naterer, vice-president academic and research at UPEI. “I look forward to working with her as we move forward to an exciting future for the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), and the University as a whole.”

Emily Duffy and Joe Ranger named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for October 2–8 are Emily Duffy (women’s rugby) and Joe Ranger (men’s hockey).
Women’s rugby prop Emily Duffy is a fourth-year kinesiology student from Saint John, New Brunswick. She showed off her strength and powered her way to two tries in a critical 31-29 win over the Acadia University Axewomen on October 6. The win secured a home playoff game for the Panthers.

Awards presented for the 2023 AVC Summer Research and Leadership Program
Students participating in the Atlantic Veterinary College’s 2023 Summer Research Leadership Program presented their posters to faculty, staff, and students on August 31. The Summer Research Leadership Program is designed to introduce DVM students to research career opportunities by involving them in a summer research project with a faculty mentor, with supplemental group sessions and a final poster presentation (and competition) of their work.
